Development and integration of a precise, safe, GNSS-based vehicle localisation system

Hexagon has developed a precise GNSS-based localisation system and correction service that can be certified to ISO 26262 for use in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) applications, and is currently working on integrating this system into mass-market deployment of passenger vehicles.

In this recording of our Tech.AD Europe 2024 presentation, we present a summary of the system architecture, focusing on the differences compared with commercial systems that are required to achieve functional safety. We will also discuss some interesting integration and design tradeoffs that must be considered for vehicle function in terms of balancing the operational design domain (ODD), price and system performance.

What you will learn:

  • Functional safety and integrity as it relates to GNSS positioning
  • What Hexagon offers to support safe vehicle localisation
  • Integration and design tradeoffs to consider when including GNSS-based localisation in a vehicle
