| SMART-V1 and SMART-V1G Antennas: Positioning Using GL1DE™ in an Agricultural Environment This white paper discusses the agricultural applications of NovAtel’s SMART-V1 and SMART-V1G antennas and presents field test results. Applications for NovAtel’s newest positioning algorithm, GL1DE, which is used in conjunction with SMART antennas, are also discussed. Testing shows that GL1DE is a suitable algorithm for agricultural applications where pass-to-pass repeatability is important, such as planting, seeding, and spraying. With the addition of the GL1DEalgorithm to the SMART-V1 and the SMART-V1G antennas, noisy solutions are smoothed and single frequency positioning is greatly improved. RT-20™ mode testing, including GPS plus GLONASS was also conducted. Tests show that using while using SMART-V1 and SMART-V1G antennas, both antennas achieved sub-20cm horizontal position accuracy in 16 to 20 minutes (95th percentile) and could provide a sub-10cm horizontal position accuracy once the RT-20 algorithm had converged. NovAtel’s SMART-V1 and SMART-V1G antennas are rugged and portable antennas and can be easily integrated into farming systems. Click here to see NovAtel's white papers.
